Tameside College students raise a monkey for animal sanctuary

Students at Tameside College have raised almost £500 for an animal sanctuary.

The fundraising event for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary included a ‘meet the animals’ session with lizards, snakes and chameleons, as well as a raffle, tombola and the opportunity to feed the college’s goats.

Among the total amount was £100 of pet supplies for the sanctuary, which cares for, rehabilitates and helps to rehome everything from cats and dogs to pigs and horses.

"I’m incredibly proud of the students for their hard work and dedication to supporting Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary,” said Jack Taylor, an animal management teacher at Tameside College.

“Not only did they raise a fantastic amount of money and supplies for a worthy cause, but they also gained valuable experience in planning and running a successful event.

“It’s great to see them developing skills that will benefit them in their future careers while making a positive impact in the community."

The students chose Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary - based in Edenfield near Ramsbottom - by vote.
