Gdansk81

From Monday 15th July onwards, our band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are Gdansk81.They're are a six-piece indie band based around the North West, who met through attending football matches and mutual friends. They pride themselves on writing original instantly memorable pop songs and are influenced by bands such as The Wedding Present, The Fall, B-52's, Echo & the Bunnymen and Joy Division.

Their unique brand of music fuses infectious melodies with sharp guitars and contrasting vocal harmonies, and with driving bass lines and dreamy keyboards, they're a band whose music once heard makes you instantly want to go and see them live. They've received airplay on many national and local radio stations already and have recently toured with The Chameleons. Gdansk8's fifth self-released EP 'Walking beside our dead selves' came out in May and gained support from many people in the music industry, including Jason Williamson from Sleaford Mods. 

They'll be played on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm between Mon 15th and Fri 19th July; they also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show on Monday 8th July, you can listen too that again via the OnDemand section of the website.
