Dave Sweetmore - 5th September

Rock n Roll Star, National Treasure, Musical Icon, Manchester legend, and TV hero Shaun Ryder next week begins a huge UK theatre tour which runs until May 2025, telling stories and tales of his life as one of music's most iconic and wildest frontmen

He'll be telling stories of his life, his times with Happy Mondays and Black Grape, and about his time on many TV shows he has appeared on, including 'Gogglebox' and 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here'.

There will be conversations about the drug fuelled 'Madchester' days in which he way a key figure, and will talk and reminisce about a lifestyle most could only dream of. The highly anticipated tour is called 'Happy Mondays and Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays' and coincides with the release of his book which has the same name.

At 62, Shaun William George Ryder has lived the music lifestyle to excess, more than most, and the tour will see him telling tales from growing up in Little Hulton to today, where he remains one of the busiest, and most popular characters in rock n roll. The Theatre tour begins on September 12th at Lytham St Annes' Lowther Pavillion, and runs until May 4th, ending at Nantwich Football Club.

It's a huge 80 date tour, which will also see a section of the show open to questions from fans. His new book will also be available on the night and meet and greet tickets are available at each venue. I will be hosting the 2024 dates at Lytham, Halifax, Altrincham, Stockport, Chesterfield, Ilkley, St Helens, Forfar, Inverness, Greencok, Stirling, Airdrie, Whitley Bay, Billingham, Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Leeds, Stamford, Millom and Glusburn, and I can't wait to hear many tales from the frontman of two of Manchester's best ever bands. Shaun Ryder's Happy Mondays and Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays tour is one not to be missed.

My Tameside Radio show will be covered on these days by weekend early breakfast presenter Jack Ward. For a full list of all Shaun Ryder tour dates, including links to buy tickets at each venue, visit www.awaywithmedia.com. Hope to see you there!

Two of Greater Manchester's nicest men in grassroots music have come together and launched a project which is simply brilliant. The greatly titled 'Art For Mcr' is the idea of The Information Highway guitarist Lee Gallagher and Black Sonic Revolver frontman Leon Kenny, two great bands who have both appeared on Tameside Radio as Band Of The Week on our Local Music Spotlight feature.

For a decade The Clash gave the music scene songs and live shows which would ensure they would live forever as one of the most influential and important British bands of all time. Forming in London in 1976, the classic Clash line up of Joe Strummer, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Nicky Headon were one of the first UK bands in a punk scene which would change the course of music forever.
